Personal Quote: "Dream sharing isn't some game you can turn on and off. You're dealing with the human mind; something that modern academics and science don't fully understand. When you go in there, you're not only risking the health of the subject but, also your own sanity." - Doran Hunter explaining the danger of Inception
Background Story:
William Hunter was introduced to Dream sharing two years prior to his college graduation. At the time his interest gave him the experience of tagging along on two different missions with a few in formats. A flaw in the second operation caused their team to flee from Italy after stealing information from a mafia lord. William Hunter was the only person to survive the event. He found himself with the Dream sharing kit as all his team mates were gunned down. William has since been paranoid that the Italian mafia could be lurking around any corner. He takes great lengths to insure that they do not trace him nor encounter him at all otherwise, Hunter is likely to shoot first and ask questions later. Four years after graduating he had enough experience that he would begin training others with dream sharing and extracting information from selected targets.
Doran Hunter lecturing about Dream Sharing:
"Dream sharing is a world where every paradox ever conceived is proven. Inception itself becomes a paradox once your inside the mind of someone else; nothing like waking up every morning wondering if the coffee you're drinking is really yours or another persons."
"Think of Penrose stairs - an impossible object, a flight of stairs that travels up or down, depending on how your mind perceives it. You will have to master these concepts if you're to survive past the first five minutes."
About Dream Sharing (the program)
Dream Sharing offers a universal interface for human minds to connect to one another. It uses the platform of the 3 (actually 4) stages of sleep as its means to convey information. It should also be noted that as you climb in stages, time slows down.
Stage 1 - Basic stage of sleep, at this stage it is easy to extract or plant basic information and concepts. Stability is questionable since the subject is capable of becoming conscious quickly.
Time conversion: 1 minute reality = 12 minutes of stage 1
Stage 2 - A deeper stage usually containing concealed information - dark secrets and sub conscious thoughts. The stability is moderate, the subject can still recognize fantasy from reality but, once waking from this stage, they will be in a state of confusion and won't be able to tell the difference between reality and dream unless there is a flaw.
Time conversion: 1 minute reality = 2 hours of stage 2
Stage 3 - A deep stage where information can only be planted in the subject, there is usually no information to extract at this stage.
Time conversion: 1 minute reality = 4 hours of stage 3
Stage 4 (Limbo) - Is the deepest anyone can enter inside Dream sharing and it's considered inescapable. Reaching this level will typically result in the person sinking into a coma in reality (conscious world.) This is essentially each individuals storage locker full of memories that are maintained on a day to day basis.
Time conversion: 1 minute reality = 60 hours of stage 4
NOTE: If the subjects are under "Deep sleep", the minutes to hour ratio is subject to change.
Agents of the mind - The mind releases agents that are natural defense mechanisms to the intruders of the brain. These agents are usually depicted as Black dress suit persons, however; they can be any civilian or person within the world.
Death - Regular sleep
The participants awaken in whatever stage is prior to their dream state where their death occurred. IE: If you're in stage two and you die, you fall back to stage one. If you're in stage one and die, you awaken in reality.
Death - Deep Sleep
Causes the Dream sharing Agent to fall to the next stage in the dreams, Limbo being an immortal stage of existence where the dreamer remains permanently asleep until pulled out of this stage.
Kicks - Are methods used to awaken Dreaming agents and subjects from each dream stage. It's important that one Dream agent remains alive and in tact for each stage. Kicks are simulations such as falling or collision with an instinctive trauma to the body. IE: Splashing a bucket of cold water onto someone causes a dramatic temperature change in the body and provokes survival instincts
Kicks can be estimated within a deep stage by any form of sound -
IE: Stage 2 uses a clock bell, Dream agents within stage 3 can hear the clock bell ringing prior to receiving the kick, allowing them to prepare themselves for the event.
Reality and Dreams - It's suggested that the more complex the dreams are, the more difficult it is for the body to realize the intruders. Because of this, its recommended that elements of reality should not be recreated within the dream by any subject no matter what.
Dream sharing Roster roles
Intelligence Agent - Collects information on the target and sets up the scenario for abduction.
Architect - Creator of the world and ultimately the mind that inception boots all connected users into. The Architect create the world prior to entering it and for safety reasons, keep this memory isolated until final procedure. Architects have an extremely dangerous task and are among the most important agents to keep alive.
Extractor - The person who steals information from the mind of the subject by persuading them. Creates vaults or specific objects for the subject to place important information into.
Optional:
Linguist - Capable of deceiving and mimicking the characteristics of a subjects mind. These agents specialize in changing the dreams physics to recognize the linguist as a person who they are not (visually)
