Background story:
The Joker's origin remains a mystery to even Batman. His initial entrance into Gotham was taken as a joke based on his "emo" appearance and that of an adult reliving his teenage years. The criminal underworld tried to shuffle the Joker under the rug, not wanting to accept his style of criminal. Until the Joker was fully capable of crippling other crime organizations without casualty to himself or his "people." The Joker's limitless style would occur when he recognized that he had more respect for Batman than any criminal in Gotham. He Sees Batman as an inspirational figure; someone who is unbreakable, a challenge that the Joker constantly attempts to break.
Attempting on multiple occasions the Joker expects a different result every time with no luck.
