Once a renowned scholar of medicine, his luck had him stumble upon a demonic imp who offered to expand James Butterman's knowledge of Alchemy. Combining mixtures that would create deadly virus and diseases, he eventually lost control of his passion and became driven insane. He would create a plague that would destroy the entire population of his town and create a region of blight, he came to realize that he would have limited food and resources to survive any longer but, his imp companion provided an alternative; immortality as an undead. The cost would be a natural existence of eternal life. Panicked and worried, James didn't delay with his decision and concocted the potion that mutated him into an undead monstrosity.
Damaged by his mutation his conscience remains preserved and still insane. He currently captures different creatures to experiment on them and then eventually reanimating them as undead to use as his own personal army.
