-Bruce held onto his head, when he looked to the front of the limousine to see Alfred’s face planted in the steering wheel with blood trickling down his face. Bruce’s eyes began to water as a growl broke through his voice.- “Alfred?! Alfred?! Oh god.” –Bruce felt his shoulder numb, Bruce looked to his side and saw the entire side of the vehicle destroyed and smashed towards him, Bruce was lucky to be alive; the classic chasse of a 1940’s steel armored limousine is the sole reason he was alive. Bruce kicked open the door and saw the other vehicle that caused the car accident. The front end of the car, appearing almost exactly like the Bat Mobile, its headlights blinded Bruce as he could hardly see the vehicle. Bruce crawled out of the car and began to approach the vehicle when suddenly the cockpit opened and revealed a tall man with bare arms exposed and a mask covering his face.- <c>
“Bruce Wayne…” –His voice was foreign, Bruce’s eyes struggled to make out who it was but, before Bruce could react the large man was ontop of him, punching Bruce in the stomach and then grabbing him by the hair and slamming his face first into the limousine’s chasse. Bruce groaned and moaned from the agony.- ‘He hates me…Or my name…I could feel him drag me for what seemed like minutes. It was the tightening of rope that caught my attention, I managed to lift my head upon the last knot and the nerve to ask him…’ –Bruce’s head lifted to look at the masked man.- “Why don’t you kill me?” –Bruce’s voice was gasping for air.- ‘I heard his groggy voice once more speak, that accent…I know it…It’s-…’ “You have witnessed a life of nothing but comfort and luxury…Now you will know what it’s like to be alone and helpless. You will feel like a child behind bars…” ‘With that he pushes me and I fall for what feels like an eternity but, was only five seconds, probably three stories I fell. ‘<c>
-Bruce felt his head bleeding and began crawling along the floor when suddenly he felt the same pair of hands before grab him from behind and drag him to a jail cell that was broken down and demolished into a lower level.- “Welcome to Blackgate, Batman…” –Bruce lifted his head.- ‘I raised my head knowing his motives, he wasn’t trying to kill me, he was trying to break me, the barrier between the two men inside the one body.’ –Bruce was thrown down a hill of debris, stone, metal, rocks, and even dead police and convict bodies. Bruce rolled down the debris and was cut, bruised, and battered by the tumble. He gasped for air as the world around him began to fade…- ‘Goodbye, Diana…Clark…J-…’
Death of the Endless: - The world was bright, the sun was shining and Bruce would wake up in what appeared to be a field stairing at a clear blue sky. However it was not warm. the chill of death filled the air, butterflies black as they coul be fluttered around no light reflecting from the creatures. The direct front of Bruce Wayne would reveal a young woman, pale skin, black clothes,(See picture 1 in profile). She stood there for a moment with an umbrella in her left hand, playing with the ankh around her neck.-"Hi." Clouds began to cover the area and there wasn't the first scratch on Bruce.-
“Where am I?” –Bruce said though he could’ve sworn he thought that before speaking it. He stood up with no problem and looked at the woman before him.- “Who-…where am I? This doesn’t seem like Blackgate.” –He adjusted his eyes; they were functioning and not blurred like before. The area was somewhat relaxing despite the field and a brief clear blue sky. His outfit was black pants with a black dress shirt unbuttoned at the top and with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He was wearing sandals for some reason. His dark hair no longer combed but settled on the side of his head as it naturally would’ve without grooming it. He had nothing on him except…He reached into his pocket and pulled out two objects, a white pearl and a gold name plate that said “THOMAS WAYNE.” –He stared at both for a moment, trying to figure out what to make of them.-
Death of the Endless: -Blinked and said” Oh right! Well I am Death, You can call me Didi…” She smiled as friendly as she could placing a hand on her hip and she said” This is my home..pretty much, This is where I meet souls who aren’t ready to cross over just yet.” She flashed him another smile and she said” Now please come with me Mr. Wayne, or should I call you Batman? Which-ever you prefer.” the sky grew cloudy " You aren't the only person I have to meet with today, you'd be surprised how many people , cats, dogs, even goldfish die every day.."
-He suddenly found himself walking with her.- “Batman.” –He said simply, pocketing the two items.- “If I’m not dead, why am I here?” –He looked around the fields finding himself fearful of the light but, embracing of the darkness.- “Where are we going? How do I know I can trust you?” –Batman walked through the fields, the grass bowing as their feet trampled on it. She was carrying an umbrella for a reason and the sky was getting cloudy, but he didn’t seem to care…he didn’t seem to care about anything this was strange for him.-
Death of the Endless: She looked at him and she said” Aren’t you a detective? You should know the answer to this” Don’t focus on one thing to much here Batman, It can be problematic for mortal souls, this realm is limbo, it’s the place between life and death. She stops and she said” We have to cover certain bases before you can be returned to your world. “ She smiled and she said” Ok so let’s start with this.”She points to the where the clouds were Bruce’s entire life would be revealed before him. She said” You know when people talk about their life flashing before their eyes…that is pretty much what they are talking about.” The Sky would show Bruce as a young child, the night his parents were murdered everything up until the incident that landed him here. She watched it and she said” You did good in your time on Earth. Saved a lot of people..”
-She had personality; he didn’t expect that from someone in death, Batman felt nothing upon seeing the death of his parents again. He merely clutched his jaw and watched the sky. Time was meaningless or so it would seem. – “What am I suppose to do? Confirm that was my life? It was my life…it still is…I want it back. How do I get it back?” –His tone slightly rising though it never changed to a growl that Batman had, it was just simple Bruce Wayne’s voice emphasizing his question.-
Death of the Endless: Shakes her head “It’s not that simple. Don’t worry about your life it will be there when you return. We have to go through this, otherwise you will see me again sooner than you think. Or you can stay here…which will happen if you don’t go through this..And I have a lot more people to visit today so the sooner we get this over with the better.” She continued to walk the clouds grew darker in the direction she moved but the sun behind them was still as bright as ever. When she stopped again the grass was burned to cinders. She looked and she said” Yeah don’t look to the left..”On the left was Hell. She looked to him and she said” The Abyss likes to call to lost souls.” The Abyss began to call to Bruce. Calling him to take a look.
-He continued following her, the ground was like blight, diseased with the evil or some other phenomena that caused it to look in such a way. Upon her words describing the abyss.- “What happens if I look?” –He took her seriously now unsure of what he was up against but, he didn’t seem restrained or confined. He wasn’t dealing with any sort of mind probing or so that’s how it would feel. He periodically looked to the clouds to see the Justice League members. He furrowed his eyes brow to focus on this task, he had to get back to them.- “What do I call you? Do you have a name besides Mistress of Death?”
Death of the Endless: " The Abyss looks back." - She stopped and looked over herself and she said"Death is my name, but you can call me Didi." she looked to him she continued walking and she said" the ground became like mud, the smell of rotting corpses and salt filled the air, and she said" To the right is the nightmare city. It isn't connected to the Dreaming which is what my younger brother controls. " She contined walking through the mud and came out clean. Infront of them was a castle, the castle was made of bones, She looked back at him and she said" Come along lets finish your paper work now and we can get you back home."rain began to pour from the sky. the sky was blacker than any Bruce had ever seen before, red lightning streaking across the sky. She walked into the castle which was set up like a museum. Fish of every kind, Hats, Dinosaurs, umbrellas, clothes, weapons, everything anyone could imagine existing on earth or in the imagination was there even a few of Batman's own toys. She made her –
Death of the Endless: Way to her office and she sat down and she said" Ok So here is the deal.... You ended up here on a sour note , your body is in bad shape to say the least, Im going to give you a pass, and pretty much the doctors will say "It's a miracle." Not the case..Watching You heroes do your jobs, It's a nice pass time for me. You will still be hurt pretty bad, but nothing lethal."
-Batman recalled her name the first time, hoping to remember it better than the first time.- “-Oh…I remember…” –He said, admitting his foolishness. His eyes watched the sky change as if he could feel the cold reaches of space touching his shoulder, whispers from the abyss made him slow.- “Bruce…” –The voice of a man called out to him. He watched as she entered the castle, the voice was to his immediate left where she had told him not to look. The voice was his fathers, he was sure of it, upon feeling the mud slipping between his toes Batman closed his eyes and followed behind Didi. He right to have courage, using his strong will to rationalize the voice as an imposter. Upon entering the museum, Batman looked around and promptly grabbed hold of a flash light. As Didi spoke Batman would spot a Batarang on the wall that he would approach and brush his fingers cover the pristine metal shaped in the form of a bat.- <c>
“You’re saying I will be vulnerable but, not in a fatal condition? How will I get out? I remember my head hurting, my eyes, my arms were in pain.”
Death of the Endless: " Please don't touch my stuff." without even looking up from her desk, a bright light flashed on and she said" Some of those things are irreplacable." She looked up to him and she said" Pretty much the paper work reads, that you are trading your life for something else. Nothing you will miss, and no it isn't your soul, or anything like that, you have a few of them in your dusty old cave. you'll never miss what I a taking. You will be mostly healed when you wake up. But there is one thing you should ask before I send you back..Most people want to know what it all means? You should ask that before I send you back, and it might answer why your getting a second chance."
-Batman looked to her and placed the flash light down and walked away from the batarang. He approached her and commented.- “I didn’t think death involved such regulatory statures...” –He said, finding it interesting that there were guidelines.- “What does this mean for me? Why am I getting this…”second chance” as your calling it. I’ve had other experiences of near death. Why now? Does it have something to do with that man who put me in this position in the first place?” –Batman placed a cold gaze upon her, glaring at her to answer him, though it likely had no affect on her.-
Death of the Endless: Shakes her head" No it has nothing to do with any of that, and your other experiences weren't really near death experence." She looked up from her papers and she handed him the pin and she showed him her necklace and she said" This is the most important thing in the entire universe." it was an ankh, Batman had probably seen it before, It was a symbol that Dr. Fate used also."Ok so I will see you again, and just remember this is the most important thing in the whole universe." - Everything would go black and soon enough Batman would wake up.
Death of the Endless: -wake up with full memory of his experience like a vivid dream-
