Cyclops is a powerful hero with abilities exceeding not just his mutant power output but, his skills with leadership, combat strategy, relationships, and vehicle control. Scott is known for being a grease monkey as well a hardcore athlete obsessed with fitness, competition, and pushing others to the limit. He is a role model for many students at the institute and for fellow team members within the X-Men.
Background story
As young child Scott Summers was on a family vacation when the planes engines stalled and began to crash into the ocean. The crew on board immediately began evacuating as many people as they could, Scott and his younger brother Alex were the first of few to be given a parachute and successfully escaped. Scott's landing however, resulted in a minor concussion triggered and damaged his mutant ability to unleash an optic beam from his eyes. Forced to close his eyes, ultimately his optic blast was the reason he and the other survivors made it out of the ocean. Scott's brother excluded as he was never found and caused additional stress and depression on Scott.
Scott would be end up in custody of his Aunt and Uncle until he was approached by Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr for a new school with the purpose of helping young mutants develop and control their abilities. Scott was brought on board as the first X-Men with the intent of being able to give the world a new perspective of mutants. As time progressed the X-Men grew as they recruited Jean Grey, Hank McCoy, Bobby Drake, Warren Worthington III. The team of X-Men began their adventures helping out their communities as anonymous teenagers and adults. Scott quickly grew to be the leader of the band of heroes and is now known as Cyclops.
Time has long passed since his youth and Cyclops legendary skills have earned him the respect of many enemies as well allies. He is known for having a romantic relationship with fellow team member and professor at Xavier's Institute, Jean Grey.
