Description
Wolverine is a loyal X-men teacher and team leader with an outstanding performance both in combat and at the institute. He is well respected by his students and comrades for being very laid back towards anyone he comes into contact with. Often he allows people to make their own decisions and chooses not to intervene unless absolutely necessary to save someone from danger. Wolverine believes that real world experience out performs any class room education and seems to use this belief in his classes.
Background story
James' mutant abilities began to develop at the age of ten. Initially believed to have a a weakened immune system, James was sick at least two times a week but, this would change when his powers surfaced. Inside his forearms and hands grew long claws meant for slashing and mauling victims. He also developed enhanced regeneration that allowed his wounds caused from his claws to be healed quickly. This regeneration ability eventually tied into everything within his body, enhancing his strength, hearing, eye sight, smell, agility, and stamina. With this his powers there was only one drawback and that was a bestial behavior that couldn't be tamed.
Years would go by and James would find himself in competition with his childhood friend, Victor Creed. Both would join the armed forces together and worked ferociously through war after war. Until World War II when the U.S Government began experimenting on Super Soldier Projects between three test subjects: James Howlett, Victor Creed, and Steven Rogers. The results would appear that James received adamantium skeletal bone infusion while Rogers received enhanced physical capabilities. The Drawbacks of the experiment resulted in Rogers slowly degenerating over a period of time while Victor Creed and James Howlett seemed immune to any and all effects due to their enhanced regeneration abilities.
A month into their mutations the government agency running the experiments; S.H.I.E.L.D, would discover that James was rapidly mutating prior to the experiment but, now his abilities were snared and slowed down - effectively reducing his regeneration and heightened abilities. Then it would reveal that Victor Creed had gone insane when he sabotaged a second operation on James resulting in a memory loss. This timing couldn't have been worse as James' unconscious body was then captured by Hydra spies, they would attempt to resuscitate James and created a whole new profile for him. Claiming he was a test pilot who died in a crash and that his body was donated to science. Victor Creed, now known as Sabretooth took James under his wing as Weapon-X, the two would unleash havoc in the name of Hydra until the duo encountered Captain America.
Captain America successfully defeated Sabretooth but, Weapon X stood towering over Captain America ready to deliver a final blow when, Rogers plead for James to remember who he was. Confused for a moment, Captain America convinced Weapon X to return to SHIELD with him. Once he returned, they military showed Weapon-X everything known about James Howlett to the point of causing him to have a mental break down. He realized that he was killing the men he fought to protect and that he was servicing his enemies. Upon discovering the Sabretooth was once a good friend that was corrupted by a military experiment, Weapon-X went berserk and wanted to leave. The military wouldn't permit it and ordered the only man who could stop him, Captain America. However; the military didn't expect Rogers to stand down and permit Weapon-X to flee as he saw his own degeneration as a flaw he didn't want to see happen to another person. Rogers would advocate that the Super Soldier project was a failure and that all three experiments were negative in their results.
Weapon X has gone a long way since running from the military. Using a new alias of Logan, he finds himself resentful of any military or government organization. After spending years in isolation and depriving himself of a fulfilling life, he found solace upon joining the X-Men after being recruited by Charlies Xavier, Scott Summers, Jean Grey, and Ororro Munroe.
