Frank Castle (The Punisher) is a retired Captain of the United States Marine Corps. Castle came to accept an offer for a new post in North New York State that would start in six months but, Castle would later intervene in a street gang shooting that resulted in a mafia family’s son being shot and killed by Castle. The Mafia family would then seek vengeance on Castle and his family during a family reunion in the Caribbean.
Castle's entire family was wiped out leaving him to be the single survivor brought to near death as he was found drifting in the water by a beach, where a Witch Doctor had rescued him and described to him that his survival was fate and now he controlled his own fate. For an unknown reason Castle was attracted to a Voodoo ward (a white skull on a black shirt,) an emblem Castle uses to this day to strike fear in his enemies.
Since the death of his family, Castle has waged a "personal" war against crime and allows few exceptions for his level of blood thirst. He believes government agents, employees, and leaders are tools in a fucked up system that is comfortable with no accountability.
