Background story
Jonathan Crane was born into an abusive family that instilled and started his fascination with fear. Drawn to the idea of what causes someone to breakdown into fear. Crane would grow up being physically humiliated and harassed by bullies until he reached college, where he was intellectually insulted by professors who thought Crane's ideas were absurd and outrageous. When Crane graduated he was approached by Ra's Al Ghul for a position where Crane could use his theories and ideas in a real situation. Ra's offered Crane an opportunity he could only dream.
Ra's would help Jonathan Develop his own unique combat style of martial arts known as Violent Dancing. However, Jonathan would be forced to develop this on his own when Ra's Abandoned him to train Bruce Wayne in becoming an assassin. Ra's final gift to Jonathan was a job opportunity in Arkham Asylum as head psychologist. Here Jonathan was able to meet and befriend criminal psychopath Victor Zsasz.
